A Year in Review

My senior year just flew by, and I cannot believe it has come to an end. It was a very busy year, but also a lot of fun.

I have a passion for art, and was able to exercise that love in so many different ways. I had the privilege of being the yearbook editor, which was a huge responsibility, but also a great experience. I had the opportunity to design spreads and lead the rest of the staff as we created a great book. Throughout the year, I was also in a studio art class where I created a great portfolio. That was a highlight of my year, as I not only improved my art, but also won several awards in art contests.

Like most seniors, I spent a lot of time filling out scholarship applications, and anticipating the college decision. That process took a lot of time and hard work, but it all paid off. In the fall I am going to attend Wheaton College, located just outside of Chicago. I plan on majoring in Graphic Design and am so excited to start that new chapter of my life.

Art Portfolio

For the main project in my studio art class, I created a series titled The Beatitudes. The eight pictures, done in colored pencil, reflect the triats found in Matthew 5:3-10.

Powder Puff Football

This fall I was on the senior Powder Puff Football Team. I was the wide receiver, and we made it to the championship game. Unfortunately we lost to the sophomores (their coach was my brother Ryan)! It was a great activity that got us in the spirit for homecoming week.

Adopt A Highway

As President of the National Honor Society, I organized an Adopt A Highway clean up. My dad was the adult helper, and we both collected a lot of trash along our roadway!

Senior Semi Formal

In December a group of friends and I went to our Senior Semi Formal. It was held at the country club, and was a lot of fun to go to an activity that was just with the senior class. I loved getting dressed up, and we danced until the very end!

Art Show

At the end of the year I displayed my work at my school art show. Because I was in Studio Art, I had my own section of the show. It was a great experience, and I had fun presenting the work I had worked so hard on all year.

Prom

This year I went to the prom with a group of close friends. We all met at my house to take pictures, went out to eat, enjoyed dancing, and came back to my house for a sleepover afterwards. It was a lot of fun, and a great event to end the year with.
